LLS MWOY 2013 Grand Finale
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society‘s Man & Woman Of The Year San Francisco chapter rounded out 2013’s annual fundraising competition to the tune of an amazing $550,000, raised by 11 teams over 10 weeks. The collective effort began with a Kickoff Celebration and just like that, competing teams sprinted off from the start line to start rallying their friends and family to build strong support networks across the Bay Area and host fantastic fundraising events. This year, San Francisco recognized Steve Chen of 5A5 Steak Lounge and Christina Resasco of WineMax Systems Corp. as Man and Woman of the year for the unparalleled value of donations they each raised with their teams, HackCancer and Mobilize4TheCure. Throughout the fundraising period, each team got a chance to meet the Boy & Girl Of The Year, 5-year-old Rhett and 11-year-old Sarah, both of whom served as inspiration to the teams, having been personally affected by leukemia. Everyone’s hard work and efforts culminated in the Grand Finale Gala, hosted at the Fairmont Hotel. The evening began with a cocktail reception and silent auction before dinner was served during programs and awards, which coordinators used to continue fundraising until the very end. Finally, after recognizing all 11 candidates and revealing the MWOY, everybody got a chance to let loose and celebrate all their accomplishments on the dance floor to live music. We are proud to have been able to return and sponsor again such an incredible event and effort by the LLS SF chapter.
